Lieutenant- Colonel Richard Dodds, OHG, HMH

November 22, 1925 – February 24, 2025

Richard served as a pilot during WWII with both the RCAF and RN Fleet Air Arm. He also served with the RCN during the Korean conflict, after attending the University of Toronto (Victoria, 1948) and Queen’s University (1950).

An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed whitewater canoe trips in northern Ontario and the Arctic, including travel by dogsled on the permafrost. Whether biking in France, hiking in Tibet, or standing in Tiananmen Square, Richard and his wife Lois truly loved adventure. He was an accomplished businessman and blessed with an incredible memory. It was always a treat have Richard seated at your table.

Richard served as Officer Commanding of York Garrison from 2016 to 2018. He passed away peacefully, just short of his 100th birthday at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre.
