Don Reginald Shaw was one of the first members of York Garrison, recruited in the late 1960s by long-time friend and founder of York, Don Schaefer. Don Shaw served the garrison in many capacities over the years and remained an active member of York until a little before his passing on May 8, 2012, in his 84th year. Don was predeceased by his wife Patti.

A graduate of North Toronto Collegiate, President and owner of Shaw Colleges, long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Toronto, the Royal Order of Jesters Court #83, Rameses Shriners Founders Unit 1888, Past Master of Harmony Lodge and member of Zetland Wilson Lodge #86, and the 78th Fraser Highlanders. Don was an avid curler and long-time member of Thornhill Golf & Country Club and a life-time member of the Granite Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, photography and spending the summers at his cottage on Lake Muskoka listening to Big Band music.
